When you're starting to wedding plan, things can become overwhelming very quickly. Where should you start? Venue? Photography? Catering? Flowers? Even if you're keeping it simple, there's a few essential things that you can do to make this whole process much easier, streamlined, and stress-free. I might be slightly biased, but my recommendation, based on my own experience, is to hire your ideal Kaua'i wedding photographer first!

I suggest finding a photographer that resonates with you as your first wedding investment! Choosing the right photographer is essential to creating the right vibe for your wedding day. Photographers, like myself, have years of experience photographing weddings and elopements all over Kauai and we would love to share with you our favorite locations, as well as give you tips on why certain locations are better at certain times of year. We also have recommendations for all the other vendors you'll need to hire for your special day. Even if you're keeping things really simple, you'll likely still need a licensed officiant!

Kaua'i is a small island community with so much knowledge about how Hawaii weather patterns work, where to go in case plans need to pivot, and of course who the best vendors to work with are so that you can have an effortlessly relaxed and enjoyable day.
If you've been considering hiring a photographer who isn't based on island, just know that they likely will be limited in knowlege of how Kaua'i works. From required permits, to locations that are legal and illegal to shoot at, your photographer to should be well informed and operating legally in Hawaii.
When hiring a photographer, look at their website, their portfolio, and most importantly: their reviews! Finding a highly rated photographer on Kaua'i is not hard to do, there's so many talented photographers here! I highly recommend reading reviews to get an idea of what the experience of working with them is like. And once you think you've found your ideal photographer, don't hesitate to book them as soon as you know! Most Kaua'i wedding photographers book up at least 2-6 months in advance.
